Another good episode, although not as good as 2.01, I think.
Agents of SHIELD 2.02 - Heavy Is The Head
Okay, so now we have a framework in place this is where we start to get an idea of the parts in between: how things are working in between the broadest brushstrokes of 'what remains of SHIELD'.
Starting with Coulson and May and his fugue episodes. Iiiiinteresting to see him actively working with May in this, trusting her enough to let go. I like the 'shoes off, tie undone' angle - both the intimacy and the casualness.
I expect there's lots of voyeurism fic about Coulson/May now? If not, what's wrong with people?
It's kind of nice to know there are still secrets among SHIELD personnel (no more secrets, hah; a lifetime of keeping them doesn't drop easy), although given that Skye also got the TAHITI serum, I'd have expected Phil to be sharing that with Skye as well. Then again, this is probably a little daunting for Phil and keeping it private (with May) is both comforting in a "it's limited to someone I know and trust" way, and also a "we have a secret" thing.
Also: the confrontation problem that everyone has with Fitz. Skye in particular seems really stuck by Fitz's inabilities - and yes, it's so hard to see him now and know how far he's fallen (in a way). But I liked the way Mack dealt with Fitz - straight up, modifying a little, but not coddling him. And Mack's description of needing sheet music? PERFECT.
I really really like Trip. I like that he's comfortable with himself, he's good with what he's doing, he's okay with being left out of the loop if that's what they require. He's there to do his part, and he'll do it however he can.
I am *handwobble* about Hunter as a character right now. The moral ambiguity thing is all very well, but we'll see how he pans out in the long run. However, I'm really quite interested in Raina and her link with Skye's father. And that little snarky conversation between her and Coulson? Wonderful.
(Incidentally, I can't be the only one who got Coulson's bite of "defected to the private sector" in 2.01? Ouch! What's the bet that's re: Maria?)
I'm focusing more on the character interactions than the plot - the crossing and double crossing is more or less as expected, and that final scene with Phil, the Bus under a cloaking device, and the Quinjet as a bonus extra? Totally saw that one coming.
And this is why Talbot is stupid.
So, next episode: the return of Jemma and the introduction of Bobbi? Looking forward to it. Just not tonight. It's late and I have a big day tomorrow.
