In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.

writing
1. finish one novel manuscript
2. complete a practical acquaintance with bees
3. complete the Meeting Halfway series.

reading
1. read all the unread books on my shelves at home, fiction and non-fiction both
2. read 1 chapter of my bible twice a week

sewing
1. complete 6 quilts (tops already done, finish the rest)
2. complete 6 tops (not including Promise of Spring and Passacaglia)
3. make 1 bag
4. make 3 items of clothing.

Interesting - personally, having read a few too many teenage girl Chosen Ones, I'd vote for the second - plus if I was a publisher, the idea that you might have a series of five ready or in the pipeline would be attractive!

Mmmm. Just because you are blending magic and 'normal' doesn't mean the normal part has to be today (especially as today keeps changing anyway). If you as the writer decide 'normal' technology levels are set at 2005 levels, then you can just work with that. As long as whatever your world is like you have the rules worked out in your head and you apply them consistently int he background of the story, then it should work.

Anyhow - good luck with it whichever story you choose - I hope you can get one of the ideas to flow for you this year!

Oh my gosh, go with the sewing! Real quilts are beyond me, but I love what I do. My current sewing goals include two sets of baby shorts and appliqued singlets, a bag and a pencil case. It sounds impressive, but the standard is quite low. ;-) And oh wow - I've just been looking at your quilting pictures. They are amazing!
