So, today is the first day that we'll have a professional cleaner come in to do the house.

We had a cleaner back when we first moved in, and she was...not professional. Like, she cleaned well enough, but we paid her in cash, she was someone our mother had used for a while, and she was fine by my standards but not by B1's standards.

So we've hired a professional cleaning service for a weekly maintenance and then we'll see how it goes. Interestingly, B1 has started tidying things - like getting things up off the floor, sorting through, throwing out. Which is good, IMO, because she otherwise wouldn't. And when she does, I sort through more stuff.

We do have to get a system for things like household bills and repairs, and I'm trying to persuade her not to keep empty boxes of stuff (toothpaste boxes, medication boxes, battery packaging) with a date scrawled on them so she can 'keep track of things'.

Anyway, we'll see how this goes.

We just restarted having a cleaner and I was reminded that part of the benefit is that it forces me/us (lbr, mostly me) to do a minimum tidy up in advance each time so she can do the job I'm paying for.

Not sure whether it's directly related but the cleaner came Friday and spouse did a small DIY job Saturday and started a major sorting out on Sunday.
