JSYK.
People around here are claiming kids are 'asymptomatic' and they think it means that the little darlings don't transmit disease.
But 'asymptomatic' simply means 'they're not showing the symptoms'.
A medical synonym is 'subclinically infected' - which literally means 'possibly infected but beneath our ability to diagnose'.
So there is actually no way to tell which of the quidlings are contagious and which ones aren't. And COVID19 has so far hit kids lighter than it has with adults because they're not showing symptoms, so they don't get tested.
And because they don't get the disease as easily (but hey, they could still be carriers) we're not closing schools across Australia yet.
Our fearless leader is actually incapable of showing leadership in any situation.
God help us if the damned virus mutates somewhere along the way and comes up with a youth-friendly version.

I hope you and hubby's jobs aren't on the line with everything happening right now. We've just shut down NSW (thank God, because we are the major transit point for people coming into Australia and people going out, and our quarantine practicses have been CRAPPY) and Victoria, and the Federal Government announced a stimulus package for the unemployed and...then I find out the email address the Canberra job was trying to use was incorrect (they missed one letter, when I asked my client contact to check, he insisted it was correct *eyeroll*) and they said they'd resend it, but now I'm still waiting for the documentation...

The local school up the road has closed today and tomorrow for a positive case of COVID19. It's gonna be pretty quiet around here for the next couple of days.

Our government has been waffly about closing schools because of the economic impact it will have on people who now need to look after their kids and so can't work. But the government waffling means businesses and schools take the hardline on absences, because they're not 'authorised'. And it reduces teachers to nothing more than babysitters to keep an eye on the kids while the parents do 'real jobs that help the economy'.
Our local school has had to close for a positive COVID19 case - a teacher - and everything might have changed by Tuesday. NSW is in the process of a shutdown of everything non-essential.
Wild and uncertain times.
