EXCHANGE INTERFACE

Did a furniture haberdashery 101 course at a workshop in the city today. It was...quite fun. A lot more work than I thought it would be, so I wore entirely the wrong clothing. Note to self when taking carpentry 101 in June: wear gardening clothing.

The cushion that we made is suitable for putting on top of a milk crate to sit down on, and will be kind of neat for 'under the back porch' seating. We made it entirely from recycled materials, but you can also buy them brand new if that's your thing. The organisation running the course are big on recycling furniture, fabric, and things, though, and you can scavenge almost all the equipment you need for it, so...

The part that I thought people reading this might be a little interested in was this.

To get to the workshop area, there was a cafe and an art installation. The art installation was kind of...kinbaku. (Shibari? I’m not au fait with the distinction.) As in, ropes and knots and photography of women tied up in the art installation. I don't think it was explicitly meant to be titillating, but there was definitely an element of it. Apparently they do live art with two performers some evenings.

There was a performance that evening, but I didn’t stick around for it, because it was 1pm and I wanted home. But definitely intriguing.
